Longer Table Mountain hikes

If you have 4 to 5 hours to spare you may want to consider a longer hike up Table Mountain that allows you to experience the Back Table as well as the Front Table of Table Mountain. Skeleton Gorge starts from the world famous Kirstenbosch Gardens and from there a steep but shaded path winds it way up scenic gorge. Once on top of the Back Table this Table Mountain hike leads through a variety of fynbos (vegetation) and to the highest point , Maclear’s Beacon. The panoramic views and spectacular scenery will not disappoint. From the beacon an easy stroll across the flat plateau and you arrive at the upper cableway station.

Alternatively from Camps Bay, Kasteelspoort route is a steep path between two of the Twelve Apostles. The Atlantic ocean is a memorable back drop of this Table Mountain hike. From the top of the Apostles the route takes you through three lush valleys featuring some intricate rock formations. The cableway in sight the last valley, Echo Valley is the last steep descent and ascent to the top. Be assured this hike u;p Table Mountain will be one you will want to repeat.

Both of these Table Mountain hiking options are a great choice, you just need a little more time and perhaps energy!
