There are a multitude of routes that will take you to the top of Table Mountain. Your choice will depend on how much time you have available and also your level of fitness and experience. For those with limited time (there is so much to do in Cape Town!) you may wish to opt for Plattelip Gorge. This hike up Table Mountain is a steep and stepped path up the front face. It offers spectacular views over the city of Cape Town and beyond. Table Mountain Walks offers a guided option that takes around three hours. A good level of fitness is preferable but no hiking experience as this is a non technical Table Mountain walk, with limited exposure to height and no special skill required.
For those who have a head for heights and are able to scramble (use of hands to pull yourself up) then you may wish to consider the more challenging Table Mountain hike, India Venster. This route requires agility and strength in order to tackle the scramble sections and there is in places exposure to height. Like Platteklip Gorge it allows for panoramic views over the city and beyond. This route is not a straightforward walk up Table Mountain like Platteklip Gorge so if you dont have experience and are unsure of your scrambling ability rather opt for another route.
