Wow!! How time flies. Soon Table Mountain Walks turns 30! We are about to celebrate 30 years of operation and would like to thank our thousands of clients for their support during this time. A journey that began with just a thought and a few paper pamphlets has come along way. The idea was prompted by the 9 month closure of the cableway meaning the only way to reach the top was to hike.

The internet was in its infancy so there was no Google search to find us, we didn’t have a website for over a year. The many hotels at the time played a vital role in getting things started, kindly referring potential clients.
The very first hike I remember well, up Skeleton Gorge and down Nursery Ravine, starting from Kirstenbosch Gardens. The entrance fee then was R4 – it is now R270! Thats quite a rise. Realising people wanted the city views Platteklip Gorge soon became the route of choice. The few other hikers we encountered were mostly locals and weekdays the route was always quiet. This contrasts with today’s numbers. Hence our early starts to avoid any crowds and to be able to enjoy the peace and tranquility of Table Mountain.

With all these years of operation and I confidently say we are the oldest established guiding company and you’ll be in safe hands with us. If you’re not sure about what route to book please email and I will gladly advise you. Remember we have lots of experience dealing with all levels of ability. So, you may come and join us, as Table Mountain Walks turns 30. I look forward to hearing from you.
